Performing a Quick search

Locate a contact quickly by performing a search based on common contact information, such as name and address information.

To perform a quick search

  1. From the Search menu, click Search for contacts.

  2. Tip:  To display all contacts in the database, click Display all without entering any search criteria.

  3. Select the option button next to the type of criterion you want to search for. For example, select First name to search for a contact by their first name.

  4. Depending on the option selected, a text box, drop-down list, or list icon becomes available.

  5. Specify the search criteria in the Search for field.

  6. Tip:  You can search on partial items. For example, conducting a search for "John" would also find names such as "Johnson". The search engine is not case sensitive.

  7. Click Start search.

  8. The Search results page opens, displaying any records that match your search criteria.

Note:  If you enter search criteria that matches a contact's assistant or family/friend information, the primary contact record will be displayed. Example

For example, you have a primary contact in your database named Jeff Smith. This contact has an assistant by the name of Kevin Johnson, who is entered in Jeff's contact record. If you select First name, and then enter Kevin in the Search for field, Jeff Smith's record will be displayed because his assistant matches the search criteria you entered.

  9. Click Search results total in the bottom right to see the total number of records generated by the search.
